Adolescent Collaborative Action Team (ACAT) Committee

ACAT was formed in 2001 to focus on the needs of adolescents in San Mateo County. ACAT’s mission is to work in partnership with the community to provide all adolescents in San Mateo County with the support, services and programs needed to achieve self-sufficiency and a positive transition to a healthy, responsible and productive adult life.

In 2003 ACAT underwent a strategic planning process to identify goals and objectives and action steps to guide the committee in carrying out its mission. ACAT’s seven goals are:

  • Goal 1: All adolescents will have a meaningful, caring adult in their lives
  • Goal 2: All Adolescents will have the educational foundation to achieve life-long career goals
  • Goal 3: The business community will invest in youth to develop the next workforce generation
  • Goal 4: All adolescents will live in a healthy environment
  • Goal 5: All adolescents will have access to affordable housing
  • Goal 6: All adolescents will live in safe families and communities
  • Goal 7: The community will accept responsibility for the well-being of youth, creating supportive neighborhoods and communities to enable them to thrive and succeed

ACAT has seem many accomplishments since putting its plan into action including the creation of the Silicon Valley Mentoring Collaborative which serves to join all mentoring organizations in both San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties together in a network of shared resources, trainings and public awareness about the need for caring adult mentors.
